WHAT
WE DO
We empower and develop local talent in the Blouberg region through film, television, theater, and cultural preservation. Our programs and projects provide hands-on training, mentorship, and real production experience, ensuring that aspiring creatives gain the skills and opportunities they need to thrive in the industry.
PROGRAMS & PROJECTS.
The Blouberg Art Development Foundation is committed to fostering artistic excellence, cultural preservation, and community empowerment through structured programs and initiatives in film, television, theater, and heritage projects. The objectives of the Foundation are outlined as follows:
Film & TV Production
Theater & Performing Arts
We train and mentor aspiring filmmakers, writers, and production crews, giving them hands-on experience in creating short films, documentaries, and TV content. Through our community-driven productions, volunteers gain practical skills in directing, cinematography, screenwriting, and editing while telling powerful African stories.
Our theater programs provide training in acting, playwriting, and stage production, equipping performers with the skills to bring stories to life. We develop community theater productions, youth drama initiatives, and touring performances, ensuring that local voices are heard and celebrated.
Community Training & Volunteer Development
We provide free and subsidized training in film, television, and theater, offering practical learning experiences through live productions. Volunteers gain industry-relevant skills while working on real projects, preparing them for careers in the creative sector.
Economic Development & Job Creation
Through our productions and initiatives, we create employment and entrepreneurial opportunities in the creative sector. We support young artists with business development training, mentorship, and microgrants, helping them turn their passion into a sustainable career.
Cultural Heritage & Storytelling Preservation
We are committed to documenting and preserving indigenous knowledge, oral histories, and folklore through film, digital archives, and publications. By working with elders, artists, and historians, we ensure that African traditions, languages, and historical narratives are passed down to future generations.
International Collaboration & Exchange
We connect local creatives with global opportunities through international exchange programs, film festivals, and theater showcases. By fostering cross-cultural collaborations, we bring South African talent to the world stage while introducing diverse perspectives to local storytelling.
